Post playing as a sapper so far....
spawn - plant port - run - die from inquisitor - rinse and repeat till you get help.
when you finally plant port and get away you go to drop and build the other part and BAM ur dead.
spawn - dead - spawn - run -dead -spawn - dead.
then you think sod this and run into a brawl - dead.
maybe ill try pop a few shots of long range - BAM - DEAD. (inquisitor behind you at spawn yet again).
if a witch sees you - dead
if zerkers see you - dead
im going to run where no one will ever find m....BAM! - DEAD!

my point is they are just too easy to kill and have so very little damage. you have little choice in what you strategicaly - if i want to take out an enforced point i have no dmg and score very little as all my points are made from supporting. i am forced to try and stay out of sight but in range of the action which is all most impossible and am forced to play many more matches than a zerker or a gunner who will score at least double of any score i can achieve.

the scoring system for sappers is mest up and needs changing so they are not so dependent on the team, i dont want to stop playing as a team its just that some time the fights are speradic and this leaves me at a massive loss.

any one agree/ disagree or can help me out?

I think you wrong, sapper is strong character it can have good dmg.
Inq not big problem for them, if you stay near totem you can kill inq easy.
Putting totems is your main job from them you earn you score point, put tp in hard places were no one see it and hard to get it.
Buy all armor possible on your level and put on your armor Fire rune shard, then you will have good dmg.
Stay more in the middle or near the middle try to help your team kill enemies, kill gunners or go in gunners cannon.

That is my opinion don't get me wrong!!!!!!!!

i have done all the things you say before making this post including the fire runes and still very little damage. im not scared and block and move well i think but there is no way im beating an inquisitor 1 on 1, average fight with an inqisitor is him spamming standard and me trying to hit with rmb and he still wins even if i have a totum up that usualy dies about 1 sec after me.

placing port i dont have much trouble with but yesterday some one destroyed the port at spawn before i had chance to get half way up the hill from spawning then when i return i get killed by an inqisitor, then no less than 3 times instantly when i respawn he just sat on the spot and killed me - i cant see him btw till its too late, he topped the leader board.

trying to stay in the middle is funny... 1 rmb from a zerker while i am blocking takes over half my hp some times. if any one sees me trying to put down a totum in the open they know 100% they can 1 shot me. gunner fire and witches rip me to bits in a second.
i played the class hard and tried to be patient so dont think im just some noob that hasent played the game, imo the classs is way to weak to compete and game play though it is some times fun you are the underdog and the lack of freedom to do different things. i wont go in to mentioning about how every other class has attack skill yet sapper only get things like a port or a wall and a totum (ie no damage) so there is no way hes gonna win in a fight.

just as an update on how things are going and cus it was funny - i just had a game where i managed to set my team up with ports a wall and totum, after that most of the enemy team started targeting me and would run past all of my team and my support equips to kill me.... not only once but spawn camped by 2 inquisitors 1 fire witch a sapper and 1 beserker (at the point where the train comes near the rotating mining machine cap point). it was funny because the team thought that killing me would help... so i said in all chat " am i really that important" to which they replied "you have it too easy...." this made me laugh as it was them making it easy for me and my team and they also didnt know this was my 4th game.. all the previous games where like this from the start 2 of which i never made it to the 1st cap point - the whole enemy team was on our spawn.

oh btw im CLUNK :)

sapper is a support, he will never be top damage, his job is to make an oportunity for his team to win the game
if you want enemies to sceare you -- pick bers, or inq, or sorc, or technic

also on the first few levels it is hard to carry game as a sapper
later on, when you will get to large maps and your teammates will learn to block, sapper will matter much more

Hi,
I played a sapper up to lvl 15 and I quite never had this experience you describe.
I surely die more than kill but often rank in top 3. You make points by supporting others (at least up to lvl 15, I didn't go further for the moment). So you must have some skill in running, blocking, and some reflex...

teleporter is only useful on some maps. if the spawn changes often, don't bother building one.

use your normal shot with caution. you are quite vulnerable because of the long animation. use it on fleeing enemies or when around your team and nothing is in melee range.

and also keep traps up as much as possible.

@synsane damage numbers on your other thread are bugged btw. had a game where it said i did about 12 million damage O.o something gets counted the wrong way sometimes.
