Took hours to make it only to find out it wasn't a real shotgun. The description should have said it was a boost for the minigun. Or is it?

What I mean is, there is not an individual skill slot for the sawed off shotgun. It just merges with the turret minigun slot. So it's not a shotgun at all or the game itself is bugged in it's case. If not, explain the thing to me.

Can you... take a screenshot? And we'd be glad if you circled the thing you talk about.

Sure. I've been calling the rumbler a minigun, my mistake. From the pictures you'll see that I forged the sawed-off shotgun. I show before and after pictures of dragging it over to the appropriate box. Also, I show that I already have the Arquebus skill. Hope these pictures aren't too large.

Box shows Rumbler when highighted.

I dragged and dropped the shotgun into the box (only one allowed). Notice it no longer says rumbler but says "Sawed-off Shotgun" instead.

In this picture you can see that I already have the Arquebus skill. Also notice that the rumbler slot is still active and there is NO slot with the new shotgun!

Bottom line, in the forge it says that I have made a ranged weapon.

I took this from the Gunner thread (notice that he, too, assumes the sawed-off shotgun can be used here):
