What do those weird rune/firey symbol things on the ground that give you some sort of buff do?

I see on my screen that it's doing something because it appears as a skill being used on me, but what does it do?

Hmm, I wonder how minor is minor.

It is minor enough to not count on it. But if you hold the defence it may be a good idea to hold it on that rune. Just to get every little bit of help.

Create paladin. Open altar. Find skills :
Health powder, Mana Powder.
More "mastery" paladin have - more hp he will regenerate.
Example : Basic regeneration is 35hp\sec. Paladin's mastery = 1000( it means x1.000 or 100%)
But, same basic skill 35hp\sec with 1234 mastery = 35*1.234= 43hp\sec
