Tal, thanks for your opinion! We're still thinking about different payment methods, and hope that the result will be suitable both for game development and players needs. It's not easy, many games closed or stagnates because lack of revenue, or, in other hand, are too expensive (buy it, pay for login, pay for logout ), but we hope we can avoid this scenarios. RPG and Tournament parts: yes, of course! Achievments, progress, distant goals, high-lvl content - it's very important, even in shooters I, myself, playing Battlefield: BC2, and still trying to get all badges.

As for achievements - i think you could look into the way warhammer online made them, when unlocking achievements gives you some profit(experience, items, titles, or something new you can create), not just a badge that only you can see. Achievements are not a general goal for most of the people, but they can bring an additional positive emotions to player and improve the overall game experience.
As for bf2 - it is an example of a one-time-buy game, when it's extremely attractive to new players, and not designed to keep the player. Some players like the game very much and ready to buy some new content, but that's not too many. You bought the game - you did your job. You liked it, played it and you will buy the next chapter, that will be a new separate game and will cost as a separate game, though technically it's the same game with new maps and models, but more expensive.
What you are trying to do is more complicated. You need to not just make a game attractive to newbies, but also enjoyable for hardcore players, because they are an indicator of the game's excellence.
There are many examples when a newbie-friendly game lost it's players, because of having not enough high level goals and content. AoC, Warhammer, Tabula Rasa. They've had a really good start, and a very positive experience on low lvl locations, but players reached higher lvls fast and were disappointed - they had nothing to do anymore and they started leaving. This is a common situation, and i hope you have a plan for that:) Because Fbc has potential to attract new players by excellent graphics, nice and a bit unusual level and character design (dont know much about game mechanics - that could do the job also).

You can buy a weapons (there is a limit on the level and this weapons is not a very different from what you can get through the game), possible a armors (similar to how a weapons), potions (most likely the also restrictions on the level) and like gold (but a lot of it can not buy). It is will not neither super demonic forms and axes of death =)

Ok, let's imagine a new player: i bought a game - i like the graphics, i like fighting against other players. I play for a week and see all 5 or 10 maps. What makes me keep playing? What exclusive game experience will i get if i reach max level? Why should i care about my level at all and buy all that stuff from item shop? What makes me buy the new map pack if they are just maps? If i like the game i'll play a month maybe untill i get bored, what next? Ofc i'm telling this from the place of a new player - you shouldn't reply directly to me:) but what will you reply to that player?

Read It. New level is not simply to increase stamina and mana, this is and receiving some opportunities. Each map is not just a rearrangement of textures, but also the appearance / change of tactics in the game, various traps, interactive objects, etc. But in the same BC2 you have a specific set of cards, but with the development of the player next to nothing is not changing, so what then makes you play it? That's right - the gameplay, also fun to play, as well as the friends or just unknown people in the team.

@ Tal: I dont consider leveling ad the sole factor for staying with a game. I have played many games for years where there is no leveling at all, while some games fail and do have complex leveling systems. While leveling is certainly very important for a game like this, I would definitely prefer new maps, weapons, and maybe a badge that sets me apart from everyone else. The hardest part of a leveling system is making it so that you don't level up too quickly, yet don't level up too slow and lose interest. I think something like 30 levels of progressing difficulty to get to, would be perfect for a game like this. Im thinking somewhere along the lines of about 600 hours of gameplay to reach maximum level? I think that would be perfect.

@Talon I agree that levels are not necessary, and i also played a lot of shooters that have no levels, but 1) this game doesn't look like a shooter (3rd person view i guess and at least 1/2 melee classes).
In my opinion, the thing that differs shooters from RPG is that in RPG your success in a fight is mostly based on your player's level/equip. Two chars of the same level and same equip are very close by their power, because they use the same sequence of skills. In FPS your success is only based on your personal skill level. Two players with the same weapon can have a HUGE difference. So when playing FPS you in fact level YOURSELF, while in RPG you level your char.
FPS guarantees that enemy has no other advantage over you except his skill. RPG guarantees that if you reach lvl ** you will pwn. Even if you are not that skilled. If you try to mix those two things - you can have an unpredictable result. I'm not telling you it's good or bad, but i think it's incorrect to compare this game to bf2.

I should admit that in Bf2 you get better equipment while you earn score points, and there is a difference between players with low- and high-lvl weapons and upgrades. Not so huge, of course.
