Yesterday ,for second time in the brief history of Panzar, PanzarEu decided to test stuff on the half final of the turnament.Do You think it is fair to change the rulles in the middle of the turnament(and that for a secound time) and than tell evrybody AGAIN "It wonnt happened again!"

Persunaly i think PanzarEu needs professional management...

Post Re: Test on half-finals
Greetings,

Yesterday, in the first round of Autumn Grand League, a siege map was played twice in the semi-finals stage. Unlike normally, the teams did not switch sides, but the same team attacked twice, and the same team defended twice. Both semi-finals ended 2-0. In one, the attackers won, and in the other, the defenders.

Why did we not switch roles?
With the new tournament format, we were also testing some changes in our backend. Our intention was not to have the teams keep the same roles, but due to other changes, it happened. We now know better, and will prevent this from happening again. Unfortunately at the time the situation was discovered, it was impossible to change it for the running matches.

Decision
At the tournament time, a decision was made on the spot: the results would stand. This was not an easy decision to made, it can easily be argued (correctly, I believe,) that siege maps need to be played both ways for the match to be equal. However, at the time, the only other option would have been to cancel or postpone the tournament, and weighed against that, and considering the situation (all involved teams had already qualified for the next round of Grand League, first maps in both matches were one-sided), we decided to let the 2x attack/defense scenario to play out. After this, the teams that had won the first round, also took the second - notably however, in one match it was the attackers, and in the other, the defenders.

We believe that in both cases the team that was in better shape at the time of the match, won, regardless of whether they were attacking or defending.

Regarding this being the "second time of testing something in the semi-finals", I don't quite know what the first time would have been. :O

It is a known fact that playing in attack is somewhat easiers, (no offence but uhm) If team A plays in defence and wins then it is more likely that team A will win the attack...
